Though this newsletter will be read
by people from over two dozen countries, I must take the opportunity to address my America
readers on the anniversary of our country's founding.
Christians from around the world - many
of whom are oppressed - should take heart when presented with a clear understanding about America's
history. We were a people, discriminated against in our faith; suppressed as to freedom;
overtaxed (as we sadly are now again) by an overbearing government but blessed by
the God of the universe because of their foundations!
Just think - a people like us could break
free from a tyrannical government and within just a few decades could become a prosperous
nation based upon liberty and freedom. The United States is truly a success story among
nations. Though our success has made us the target of hatred and slander around the world
it has been a small price to pay. The founding Americans fought, bled and died for a noble
cause and a dream that people everywhere long for - liberty, freedom and peace. And
because our nation is built on freedom and truth our brave men and women have regularly
visited foreign battlefields in the defense of others and have laid their lives down for
the sake of liberty.
Anti-Americanism has become the sport of
many who would have ceased to exist were it not for our warriors who rescued them from the
likes of Adolph Hitler. Though bothersome and certainly troublesome, the jealousy that has
caused nations or religions to rise up in indignation against us is of little consequence
considering the eternal good America has brought to people worldwide. By far, the most
important outcome of our emergence in the world has been the fact that America has been
the most powerful and effective tool for the cause of Christ ever known since Jesus rose
alive from the tomb.
No nation has ever sent or funded so many
missionary endeavors to the word as has America. Even with the encroachment of perversion,
greed and self-centeredness across our land, God is still choosing to use America as a
lighthouse of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Why is this?
Is it our human goodness or good
intentions that keeps the favor of Almighty God upon us? Is it our nice Church houses? Our
good singing and fellowship dinners? NO! It is simply His plan to honor the roots on which
we are founded and the biblical structure and freedoms (shrinking though they may be) that
He sovereignly gave our Founders centuries ago. Yes, someday the net will be fully drawn
and God will indeed say enough. But that time is not yet come. Besides
standing in defense of Gods chosen Jewish people the single reason that He is
honoring us and allowing us freedom here in America is because we are still the funding
arm of world evangelism like no other nation ever has been which is exactly what
the Founding Fathers intended us to be! (NOTE: I had written several paragraphs that
originally appeared here in the text about the pending judgment that is sure to visit
America unless we repent but after a couple of hours I realized that I needed to stay on
message about the Founding Fathers, at least for today anyway.)
There is overwhelming evidence that the
great majority of the Founders of America were evangelical, Bible-believing Christians.
This should be public knowledge but it is not. Their quotes and writings reflect a deep
abiding faith that has been perverted or all but eliminated from the books which our
children are forced to learn from in government school civics and history classes today.
The Founders faith may be somewhat veiled
from public view by the atheists today but it surely wasnt unnoticed during their
lifetimes. Nearly every one of them embraced a rich, living faith and a hope that was
firmly rooted in the Cross of the Savior.
In fact, taking the Founders faith into
consideration, the U.S. Supreme Court declared the United States to be a Christian
Nation when it ruled in the 9-0 decision in favor of the Holy Trinity Church on February
29, 1892!
Even our three branches of federal
government have their roots in a passage from Isaiah 33 which the Founders openly revered!
Yet this historical truth is widely ignored due to the unconstitutional separation
of Church and State an idea never espoused by the framers in any legal
document.
Today being the Fourth of July and our
229th anniversary as a nation, it is a good time to remind you of our
responsibility to never let the truth about the Faith of our Fathers die. It is their
faith and the resultant nation that arose that has allowed the church in America to reach
the world for Jesus in exponential fashion as no other nation ever has or probably ever
will.
For more on the Founders I encourage you
to follow the link below to the newsletter that I sent out on September 6, 2001. Read it.
Print it out. Forward it via email. Share it with others. Mark the Internet address
leading to it in your Favorite Places. Refer to it. Quote it. Then pray that God will open
up the spiritual eyes of your friends and loved ones about the historical identity that we
share as Americans and the awesome responsibility we have to reach the world for
Jesus.
I pray that His peace cover you today and
that God will fully bless America once again!
