Harry Potter Isn't Going To Go
Away
The latest installment in the Harry Potter series has
broken all standing sales records in the publishing industry. The previous records were
held in succession by the earlier books in the Potter series. Harry Potter and
the Half Blood Prince sold 1.6 million copies in the first 48 hours of
release at Barnes and Noble stores in the U.S. alone! Sales like
this have made Prince fastest selling book in the history of
publishing, selling 40% faster than the 2003 release Harry Potter and the
Order of the Phoenix..
Most of you know that I have little good to say about
the Harry Potter series. It is a lightning rod that I frankly never expected to so divide
the Church. Illustrating how far astray the Church has wondered from following Biblical
standards, I am amazed daily how Christians - including respected leaders - are justifying
indulgence with the Harry Potter phenomenon. Many do this with condescension and open
disdain toward we narrow minded, bigoted Neanderthals who dare question how Hogwarts
School and Sunday School could ever be compatible.
Where are God's leaders who will stand up and tell it
like it is? Why would Bible-believers waffle when the Scripture is so very clear? After
all, its not as if the Bible is mute concerning witchcraft and the like. After 22 rather
intense years of research into the occult it seems so simple to me. Harry Potter is a
sorcerer. Sorcerers end up in the Lake of Fire (Rev 21: 7-8)! Why would dedicated
Christians even think of entertaining ourselves (let alone allowing of children or
grandchildren to do so) with a hero whose morality is wayward and spirituality is
unquestionably cursed in the sight of God? The only way this happened was due to Biblical
ignorance on behalf of the Church which has allowed rebellion against God and/or selective
acceptance of God's word to become the standardless standard.
Saul did the same thing as we read in the first book of
Samuel (15:23-24). He chose the fear of man instead of God's standard. Today, we choose
the endorsement of the crowd, culture, family members, the media and even Hollywood over
the rewards of simple obedience to the Lord.
Though I'm not going to rehash the details and research
we're generated again here I do want to share a couple of emails that came to us just this
week. They illustrate the dichotomy within Christian circles concerning Harry Potter.
After visiting our website Crystal wrote:
"It's nice to see a Christian who doesn't think Harry Potter is
ok."
Maureen (from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) wasn't as
complimentary.
"I read you article on Harry Potter. You are an idiot!!!! I have
never read such garbage in my life!!!! You need to find another hobey (sic) &
go to therapy! At least kids are starting to READ! Not just any rubish,(sic) like
you wrote, but actually well written English"
I cringe when I hear people say "well, at least
kids are reading." Don't we care what they are
reading? Does this mean that Penthouse and Playboy
are options? Why are books or movies that glorify wizardry and witchcraft acceptable?
Answer: I said it before, rebellion and/or ignorance.
Also, "well written English" may be a little
strong Maureen. Author J.K. Rowling has literally invented over 800 brand new words and
injected them in the Potter books. Shouldn't we teach our kids the actual English language
rather than the vocabulary of a school teaching promoting occult supernaturalism
(Hogwarts)?

New Computer Equipment Still Needed
Even though her personal profit from the opening weekend of sales from Harry
Potter and the Half Blood Prince was an estimated $40 million, it won't
shock you that I doubt J.K. Rowling will be donating anything to the cause. Regardless, we
depend 100% on donations and sales of our materials to operate. We could certainly use
your support towards both our need for new computer equipment and to meet the $6,500
monthly budget of the ministry. Also, I am not on the road at all in August and thus all
of our income must be raised through our newsletters.)
The total we have received toward the new computer equipment currently
stands at $1190 - over $3000 short of meeting the need. Please read June 25 Update and June 30 Update and as God
leads you please help us with this critical need.
