Ministry Update
August 20, 2003
| God Bless Roy Moore! Though Melanie and I are very busy today in preparation for our next ministry trip through the eastern U.S. and Canada I am burdened tonight by the goings on in Alabama and am somewhat perplexed by today's lack of action by the U.S. Supreme Court. As most of you know by now, the High Court refused to hear the appeal brought by Judge Roy Moore, Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. A federal Judge has ordered Moore to remove a monument containing the Ten Commandments, which Moore had installed a few months ago outside the entrance to the judicial quarters in Montgomery. Moore has until midnight tonight to remove the monument or be fined $5,000 a day. Moore has been one of my heroes for some time. He has fought off the likes of the ACLU (or as we like to call them the "Anti-Christian Lawyers Union") and many other left wing and atheist groups since the days prior to becoming Alabama's C.J. He is a well-spoken man of integrity and principle and is certainly well supported in his refusal to bow to ruling of the lower federal court. Moore has the law and history on his side but those items have been known to be ignored by judges wishing to act as legislatures from their benches. Regardless of what may happen in the short term concerning the monument there are far ranging implications here. If Moore eventually loses this case, the whole issue of separation of Federal and State governments, in particular so called "States Rights" will have taken a huge hit. More so, the rights of a state or city to invoke the name of God in any of its governmental or public procedures is at stake. There is a very good possibility that the case may indeed wind its way to the bench at the U.S. Supreme Court and could in fact shape the entire "separation of church and state" argument - one way or another - permanently. Why the U.S. Supreme Court refused to rule on the case today is puzzling. Perhaps the majority of justices there are actually in favor of bringing God back to public life in America. It couldn't have slipped the minds of The U.S. justices that they themselves have the Ten Commandments displayed openly in Washington could it? What could be wrong with the state of Alabama simply displaying a document that the Alabama constitution itself brings reference to and draws direction from? Those on the High Court must certainly also be aware that justices preceding them have on more than one occasion declared that the teachings of the God of the Founding Fathers are to be the very basis of our government and judicial system! What could be more central to the spirit of those previous rulings than the Ten Commandments? To quote the US Supreme Court itself: In the Holy Trinity Church case, Justice David Brewer wrote: "These and many other matters (referring to the 87 precedents which the case was decided on) which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation." I don't claim to know what the Justices were thinking today, but it seems to me that the Supreme Court needs men and women not afraid to return us to the foundations that John Jay, John Adams, Patrick Henry and many other brave Christian men fought to give us. This is why it is a constant prayer of mine that God give us honest, patriotic, Christian judges - starting with the Supreme Court. "Lord, save them or remove them!" Amen. If we are to ever see a breakthrough in our nation and if our children and their children are to experience any sliver of the greatness which Americans once enjoyed, then our legal system and legislatures must be wrestled away from the godless forces who've commandeered them over the past few decades. We must pray for brave, undaunting men like Roy Moore as he and others stand up to the soothsayers of liberalism and once again calls good "good" and evil "evil." America certainly needs a few "thou shalt not's." Canada Trip Friday morning we depart Texas and after a Sunday stop
in Urbana, Ohio we head for Ontario, Canada. I am asking all of our friends and supporters
to intercede for us as we travel and to ask God to grant us great favor and many souls
during this trip. I am honored to be addressing Worship Fest 2004 which
we're told will be the largest praise and ministry gathering held in Canada this year.
Though billed as a "Christian" event, the Lord has already shown us that there
will be many hungry souls there. Pray that the Lord bring a great
harvest and that He be glorified through the ministry there. Please pray especially for
people to be soundly and authentically converted as I give my testimony and present the
Take A Stand! Seminar series up north of the border. Thanks much! History of the World In this mailer we are offering a great resource. Parley's History of the World is a 367 page book, originally published in 1881. It is as it says - the history of the world - compiled by Samuel Goodrich in 1854. The two most important things which first stood out to me about this book were that it unabashedly refers to Biblical events and that it is an authentic historical document which has never been "revised" to suite the politically correct views of the likes of John Dewey and his gang of educational hijackers who raped the public educational establishment in America a little less than a century ago. Parley's History of the World holds to creation by God as a beginning point and values events such as the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ as paramount in mankinds history. This treasure would be completely in step with the father of American education, Noah Webster. This is a resource you will refer to again and again - especially if you have children or grandchildren nearby. The book lists for $16.95 but to our subscribers it is only $12 or 3 copies for $30. You may order online, via telephone, fax or postal mail (ordering information here). As always, thanks for your continued prayers and support. We couldn't do it without you!
