Religious freedom slipping fast in Canada by Eric Barger The words "sexual orientation" appear in a resolution passed by Canada's parliament* that prohibit the use of radio or television to preach against sexual practices as "sin". Homosexuality is thus off limits and so are the Scriptures which recognize it as sin in the sight of God. What is next? Will Christians be fined for speaking out against abstinence because the entire culture has a sexual orientation to live in fornication? Will churches soon lose their tax exemptions for preaching the truth about homosexuality, fornication and other sexually oriented sins? Why not make it illegal to stand opposed to drug use? The drug pushers/users could certainly say that those who minister in such a way as to cause public hatred or anger against drugs are thus causing their civil rights to be violated. Ridiculous? Maybe now, but perhaps not in the not-to-distant future. Truly the freedom of speech and religion is under attack by the forces of darkness. Evil men, following evil spirits, deriving evil practices are with a vengeance on a terror to wipe out the teaching, effects and standards of the real, biblically-based Christian church. Liberalism will certainly flourish as a result of such regulations and laws as Canada has just passed. Preaching on sin as the Bible describes it will soon be a relic of a past era unless the Body of Christ stand united and begin to write letters, make appropriate calls to those in government and return to Biblical militant spiritual warfare through the power of prayer. *Canadian Radio and Televison Commission Statute © Eric Barger 1995 |
